Consideration of Anti LGBTQ+ Bill concluded …third reading suspended until further notice.

NATIONAL CONCERN By Abrakwa Jacob Kojo  1 minute read  The Parliament has finished going through the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill 2022. They paused the final reading of the bill for now. This break will allow the committee and sponsors to coordinate their work and consider it again if needed. Despite previous delays, Parliament is now focusing on this bill. The Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, said they aimed to finish discussing it by Friday, February 9, 2024. Highlighting the pressing need for job creation among Ghanaian youth, Dr. Bawumia advocated for a significant shift in the current national service policy. Under his proposed plan, graduates who secure employment immediately after completing their education would be exempt from national service obligations. This exemption, he argued, would enable these graduates to swiftly join the workforce and contribute to the nation's economic growth.
